How Crumbaroo Started: From Home Oven to Local Markets

There’s something magical about a freshly baked cookie—gooey, warm, and made with love. That’s exactly how Crumbaroo began: not in a factory or a commercial kitchen, but in a humble home kitchen in Melbourne, with a mixer that could barely keep up and a passion for baking that couldn’t be ignored.

Where It All Began

Crumbaroo started with a craving. Not just for cookies, but for the right kind of cookie—thick, indulgent, packed with gooey centres, and loaded with flavour. The kind of cookie you dream about after dinner or sneak from the fridge at midnight.

After experimenting with countless batches (and way too many late-night taste tests), we finally landed on the perfect recipe for what would become our signature stuffed cookies. Friends and family were our first taste-testers, and it didn’t take long before word started spreading. People began asking, “Can I order these?” — and that’s when Crumbaroo was born.

From Oven to Market Stall

What started as weekend bakes turned into something more. We set up a tiny online store and began selling locally. Orders came in, slowly at first, but the excitement grew every time someone tagged us on Instagram or sent a message saying, “This is the best cookie I’ve ever had.”

Soon after, we packed up our first market setup—folding tables, cookie crates, and all—and took Crumbaroo out into the real world. Local markets quickly became one of our favourite parts of the business. Nothing beats seeing people bite into a cookie for the first time, eyes lighting up, chocolate dripping—it never gets old.
